Parade Announcements – Sept. 28

I would like to extend my appreciation to the returning cadets that attended the registration night last week to validate their information!  WELCOME BACK!  It was great to see you as we return to in-person training at 893 RCACS.

If you couldn’t make it last week, you can still drop by on Tuesday.

Returning cadets should try on their uniforms at home and bring items that do not fit on Tuesday so that they can be exchanged by Mr. Herrington.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new cadets that registered at the Hangar on September 28.  It was a success.  If you forgot to bring your birth certificate or care card, please bring it on Tuesday night. If you didn’t get measured for your uniform last week, we will try to get that done on Tuesday.

Registration is ongoing so friends or interested youth can still attend as long as you have reached your 12 birthday.

We parade on Tuesdays from 1830 hrs to 2130 hrs.  Cadets are expected to be on time.  Given current COVID restrictions, cadets and staff are required to wear a mask at all times while in the hangar.  Parents and Guardians are not permitted to enter the hangar in the interim, however, an appointment can be made if you need to speak with the adult staff.  Announcements will be posted to the website and staff contact information is posted on the Squadron website.

For October 5, dress of the day will be comfortable and appropriate civilian clothing.  You should wear runners as we will be doing some fun team-building activities.  We will give you an overview of how regular training unfolds and start to establish the training routine.

For planning purposes, be aware that our first Survival Exercise will be held at CFMETR in Nanoose Bay on October 16 and 17.  More information to follow on that!

Also, on October 31, we will host a training session at the Hangar for those cadets that are “Advanced Placement.”  We will tell you if you are part of this group and will provide additional information in due course.

We are still awaiting approval for Range and Effective Speaking activities.  Familiarization flying (Power and Glider) remains on hold due to COVID restrictions.  Similarly, we are awaiting confirmation on whether we will be able to complete biathlon training this year.

If you are 16 years of age or older, we will have a briefing with you on Tuesday night to talk about Ground School.  Please review the FAQ and information on the Squadron website.

That’s all for now!  I look forward to the training year and wish to extend my appreciation to you and your parents/guardians as we continue to offer a modified training program that complies with COVID restrictions.
